The Jacksonville Business Journal went through a transformation at the end of 2013. The redesign of the newspaper ushered in a new magazine mentality and opened the door for creative use of image and type. This cover and inside spread was designed for a story that featured Jacksonville’s crowdfunding festival, One Spark, in it’s second year. The concept was “keeping the spark alive.” The use of the sparkler type illustrated the energy the festival brings to the otherwise dismal downtown scene.
